BAM Affiliation Belgian Ivo van Hove, head of Toneelgroep Amsterdam since 2001, is an innovative director of classic and new plays. His theater productions, often designed by Jan Verweysveld, can break open the stage space, pushing beyond the proscenium and wings, and utilize video and projections to mediate and amplify the action on stage. In addition to productions for Toneelgroep—the Netherlands’ largest repertory company based at the Amsterdam Stadsschouwburg—van Hove has directed shows on and off Broadway, and has received numerous accolades.
