Annual Reports of BAM and Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences

Historical Note: The Brooklyn Academy of Music is the oldest continuously operating performing arts institution in the United States. Because of the Academy's not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax status, it is required by law to publish financial statements annually. The annual reports have evolved over the years from a simple pamphlet containing budget earnings and losses to now include a rich history of BAM's offerings from each department and a full list of staff. Prior to BAM's legal separation from the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences (BIAS), annual reports were offered in conjunction with BIAS organizations.
Scope and Content Note: The BAM Annual Reports Collection is composed of information published by the institution detailing its major artistic and community-building accomplishments and financial accounting. Although the reports generally span only one financial year, occasionally the reports span two years and provide the same details for both years.
