Description In March 1968, as the Vietnam War raged on and the civil rights movement gained momentum, the cultural scene was undergoing a revolution of its own in Brooklyn. Trisha Brown appeared at BAM for the first time in Intermedia ’68—“a blazing amalgam of strobe lights, electronic music, cinema, and kinetic environments.” She performed alongside Remy Charlip, Carolee Schneeman, Al Carmines (director of the arts program at Judson Church), Terry Riley, and Aileen Passloff. Brown presented Planes, a collaboration with choreographer/composer Simone Forti (who was then known as Simone Whitman).
